Welcome to the world of black and white film photography! Black and white film, when it comes to development, is vastly different color. Different developers, agitation methods, developer dilutions, and temperatures affect the final outcome. To get started and to get great understanding of this craft, I suggest a few books: The Art of Black and White Photography and The Art of Black and White Developing by John Finch are great reference books.
That's awesome, Ryan. I just picked up a Minolta X-700 and 3 rolls of Ilford HP5 Plus 400 to shoot. I'm excited to try film photography now too. As always, I enjoy seeing your work man 🙌💪🏻
Nice man! I hae a few stocks of the HP5 in my fridge currently. Just working through some Tri-X at the moment. I can’t wait to see what you do with the new camera and film! 👊🏻

Thanks! Yes, I have come to understand that it is very much to do with chemistry — which I should add that I did very poorly on in high school 😅
Thanks a ton for the recommendations Derrick. I will certainly pick those texts up!
You're welcome, have fun, and experiment!
